Accessibility
The site of CSI-Piemonte has been developed following the web standards of W3C and the principles outlined by Law no. 4, 9 January 2004. In particular, the contents are intended to conform with 22 technical accessibility requirements contained in Annex A of the Ministry’s Decree dated 8 July 2005.
The site contents are managed through CMS open source Joomla in version 1.5. The templates are developed in XHTML 1.0 Strict and CSS 2. The separation between contents and graphics involves different advantages: higher loading speed, compatibility on different platforms, better use of the pages regardless of the technological device used. In the case of the use of browsers not compatible with the style sheets, legibility of the contents is still ensured. A specific style sheet makes it possible to print the site pages without the graphic apparatus.
All images are provided with alternative texts that give a summary description of the content. The inclusion of purely decorative images has been limited.
Relative units of measure have been used for the character to allow users to re-dimension the texts according to their requirements.
The site can be used also through text browsers or screen readers: in these cases, navigation is simplified by hidden shortcuts that allow the user to skip navigation menus and blocks of repetitive contents.
