This is the basis for the development of a regional register system, through the association of the data of patients and their relationship with the National Health System (exemptions, choice and revocation of practitioners, health card management).
In a first stage, AURA will be activated on a limited number of Regional Health Authorities and then extended gradually to the entire Region.

This system offers health authorities services to:

• make the health information system efficient;
• implement innovative web-based technologies and with a single graphic interface for all the applications;
• set the technical conditions to develop the health service information system on a single patient-focussed database, to which all episodes (administrative, clinical and medical) are linked.

The Hospital Health Service of Alessandria has entrusted CSI with the management and coordination of its Information System structure. The objective is to exhaustively meet the requirements pointed out in the 2007-2010 Regional Health Plan, within an internal reorganisation process. In this way ICT technologies are implemented to carry out the specific missions of the Hospital Health Service.

This is part of the sphere of legal provisions on monitoring health expenditure and checking the appropriateness of prescriptions, which call for forwarding pharmaceutical and specialist prescriptions on line to the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF). The information transmitted to the MEF by Piedmont Region is contained in databases developed and managed by CSI-Piemonte.

Up to now the project has achieved two important results:

• the release of the new Health Card for patients of the territory of Piedmont;
• the development of the Single Prescription Form Register for locating the doctor responsible for every National Health Service prescription.

This information system intends to develop a central collection point of disability certifications of the Piedmont Region.
It is a service promoted by the Regional Administration of Piedmont in collaboration with the regional health services and developed by CSI-Piemonte.

Thanks to the Ability Passport & Legal Medicine Network it is possible:

• to simplify the access of disabled citizens to the services, thus reducing the certificates to be produced;
• to standardise the administrative procedures involved in the acknowledgement of disabilities at regional level;
• to support the Legal Medicine departments of the Health Services in building an integrated database of disability acknowledgements at regional level.
