Prevenzione Serena is a service proposed by the Department for Health and Health Protection of the Regional Administration of Piedmont. The project is governed by the Centre of reference for Epidemiology and Oncological Prevention in Piedmont (CPO).
The objective of Prevenzione Serena is to reach the largest part of the population of Piedmont, by offering screening and to provide a quality prevention programme.
The priority objective is to reduce the mortality rate due to cancer of the cervix, breast and colon rectum.

These services have been issued since 2003 for the Health Service of Biella and since 2004 for the former Local Health Unit 1 of Turin. They were established out of the need to outsource the management and development of their data processing and information systems.
CSI becomes the main technological partner, while the Health Service retains the responsibility for the information systems and governing the actual outsourcing.
