The Seventies

CSI-Piemonte was founded on 1 March 1977, when the head of the Piedmont Regional administration, the Rectors of the University of Turin and the Polytechnic of Turin signed the deed of incorporation for the "Piedmont Consortium for Automatic Information Management".

Since its foundation, the company has maintained constant growth and achieved a position as one of the top Italian companies in the field of ICT and telecommunications.

The founding of the consortium was the result of a spark of political and cultural genius that has been unique in Italy, namely, to let universities play a key role in the modernisation process of local administrations.

The consortium remains under the exclusive control of local government, as defined by two regional laws. The first, n. 48 dated September 4, 1975 concerns the "Constitution of the Consortium", whereas the second is n. 13 dated March 15, 1978 and relates to the "Definition of the relationship between Region and Consortium".
