SAFE4SOC is an innovative European initiative designed to enhance cybersecurity through a network of Security Operation Centers (SOCs). This project aims to improve intelligence sharing and strengthen threat detection and response capabilities in both public and private sectors. One of the main goals of SAFE4SOC is to ensure accurate and regulation-compliant data sharing, enhancing interoperability between cybersecurity tools. The project focuses on standardizing the IDMEFv2 (Incident Detection Message Exchange Format) and leveraging artificial intelligence to optimize information exchange in cybersecurity.
By adopting this approach, SAFE4SOC enables faster and more effective responses to cyberattacks, improving the speed and accuracy of threat management.

SAFE4SOC project focus areas

  • Standardised communication: developing a uniform method for data exchange between SOCs, simplifying threat detection and response.
  • AI-driven cybersecurity: implementing advanced AI algorithms aligned with IDMEFv2 standards to enhance cybersecurity resilience and to reduce response times.
  • Community growth: promoting the adoption of the IDMEFv2 standard among SOCs to strengthen collaboration and refine security systems.

SAFE4SOC project is led by Institut Mines-Telecom (France) and involves ten partners across five countries: France, Germany, Spain, Lithuania and Italy.

The role of CSI

Since 2014, CSI has managed the public administration SOC in Piedmont. It therefore plays a crucial role in defining requirements and validating the data exchange system within SAFE4SOC. Its responsibilities include:

  • Regulatory compliance: ensuring adherence to cybersecurity regulations such as GDPR and NIS through a secure data-sharing gateway.
  • Structured information sharing: standardizing security data and implementing the IDMEFv2 format.
  • AI integration: applying advanced AI techniques to enhance threat detection, intelligence sharing and mitigation strategies.
  • Dissemination and adoption: promoting the SAFE4SOC prototype to maximize its impact and usability.

Additionally, CSI contributes to validating the system's architecture and interoperability, ensuring SAFE4SOC becomes an effective solution for cybersecurity protection at a European level.
